Today is part four of a five-part series of projections being featured on ‘Roll Out the Barrel.’ From now until Opening Day, we will be highlighting every position and their projected 2013 numbers. Today we are taking a look at the Milwaukee Brewers starting pitchers.
The Milwaukee Brewers starting rotation matched the power of its offense a year ago as the team led the Major Leagues with 1402 strikeouts, which was also a franchise single season record. Yovani Gallardo returns as the Brewers ace and tomorrow he will be making his fourth opening day start. He will be joined in the rotation by newly-acquired Kyle Lohse and returners: Mike Fiers, Wily Peralta, and Marco Estrada.

Gallardo recorded 200+ strikeouts for the fourth consecutive season in 2012, and will return as the Brewers ace in 2013. Yovani finished last season with a 16-9 record and a 3.66 ERA.
|#26 Kyle Lohse RHP|
The Brewers made a big splash in the free agent market earlier this week by signing 34-year-old Kyle Lohse. Lohse finished 2012 with a 16-3 record and 2.86 ERA as a member of the St. Louis Cardinals. Kyle has a been a premier pitcher in the NL Central over the past two seasons.
|#41 Marco Estrada RHP|
Marco Estrada had a breakout season in 2012 as he started 23 games and pitched 138.1 innings. Estrada put up impressive strikeout numbers a year ago as he struck out 143 batters while only walking 29.
|#60 Wily Peralta RHP|
Wily Peralta was called up to the big leagues in early September last season and made five starts for the Brewers while posting a 2-1 record. Peralta is ranked the #1 prospect in the Brewers organization by Baseball America and MLB.com.
|#64 Mike Fiers RHP|
Mike Fiers made the most of his opportunity in 2012 as he was called up on May 29th. Fiers ended up making 22 starts last season as he posted a 9-10 record with an ERA of 3.74. Mike struck out 135 batters in 127.2 innings of work.
